Stories from the world of RC car racing

MY FINAL WORD       aka   THANKS TO THOSE WHO STOOD BY ME aka I REST MY CASE
Regular readers of this site and rctech threads will know that I, along with members of the Interstate Committee took a fair pasting over the class rules etc for this years Interclub series. My final word on the subject is to thank those who have tried to make the Interclub work (especially the committee) and especially those who didn’t agree with me but tried hard to make it work anyway (especially the Bayside club and the scrutineers) – true sportsmen.
From the attendance and success of the first event compared to 2006 I take a great deal of satisfaction and consider that maybe we didn’t get it so wrong after all.
Entries Bayside Cup                                   2006                               2007
540                                                             7                                    14
19t                                                             18                                    11
Mod                                                            14                                    12
Stock                                                          16                                    20
Gas Tourer                                                   9                                     21
Pro Tourer                                                    6                                     12
TOTAL                                                               70                                    90
I suppose we could spend a lot of time analysing the whys and wherefores of those numbers but for me the two classes that I “threatened with extinction” where the rules were said to be “unworkable” “an absolute load of bs” and “the ruination of the sport” amongst other more colorful phrases – namely Stock and Gas Tourer, seem to have risen above the doom and gloom with an increase in numbers.
It remains for the committee members to closely monitor the rest of the events for this year so that come November they can meet again loaded with the information and facts from the trials we put in place this year and drive the changes that are necessary to keep the Interclub as a vibrant competition on the South East Queensland RC calendar.
It remains for us, the competitors, to embrace the rules that are set and get on with some hard but fair racing and above all the kind of enjoyment most of us had at Bayside last weekend.
