Stories from the world of RC car racing

Quick update with some results from today:

540:
1st Chris Hyde (Suncoast)
2nd Nicholas Orr (Suncoast)
3rd Michael Mernane (Bayside?)
There was some great racing in 540 and good to see many new and young faces competing and doing well. Chris Hyde was the class driver and deservedly won, with Nicholas Orr’s and Michael Mernane first time interclub podium-getters and doing an excellent job. Special mention to Sarah from the Sunshine Coast club who did a great job to be in the A final today.
19T:
1st Anthony Atack
2nd Scott Guyatt
3rd Keith Mackrill
Anthony was simply too fast for the rest all day today. He won well and (we think) reset the 19t Track Record in the last A final – so look out for the 19 lap barrier in mod tommorrow afternoon. Keith and I had a good battle and Martin Nichols was fast as well.
Gas Tourer:
1st Jason Dorn
2nd John Taynton
3rd David Guyatt
Jason simply too fast and won the 20 minute final well from John who was very quick as well. Big news for us was Heavy coming from p7 after qualifying to finish 3rd in his Touring Car swansong. There was a minor mid-race glitch that had the pit-crew thoroughly confused, but the R12 powered on to the finish.
More racing tommorow – stock, modified and pro tourer – and more news tommorrow night.
