Stories from the world of RC car racing

Had the opportunity to race with at Sunshine Coast club’s Landsborough track today and had a great day. It’s a great club, very hospitable and doing some things I wish we could do in Brisbane.

It’s great to see, for example that 540 is a true beginners or kids class and there are plenty of kids just enjoying themselves – fabulous.
I raced Stock electric today and the competition was quite a high standard but not quite as high as say Bayside is usually. I ended up qualified 3rd in the Academy but failed to finish the final with a hung brush. The surface as it stands at teh moment is quite hard on tyres I think and I started the day with some well worn 32’s and switched to 36’s (also well worn after round 2 but lost rear grip for the last couple of races.
The track is very well designed and has three options, the very shortest one was used by 540B today the middle one by most of the other classes and the long track by Open Nitro. if anything the track might be a little fast for stock as I was enjoying racing but not over the moon until lunch time when I fired up the gas car and did some laps on the long track and also the mid track, the extra speed bought the track to life for me and I really loved it. I think at Interclub 3 the 19t and the Mod electric and both Gas classes are going to be absolutely fantastic with stock and 540 good but not great.
Thanks to the guys and girls at Sunshine Coast for making me welcome and running a good tight race meet.
