Stories from the world of RC car racing

After missing a race meet due to Tamworth it was welcome back to Bayside on Sunday. Quite a chilly early morning but the sort of beautiful day which makes you glad to be alive and following an outdoor pastime rather than an indoor one. Just a magnificent, Brisbane Winter day.
The full results are up on our site – look under “Race Results”. There was a good turnout in all 5 classes – good to see a few younger drivers starting to turn out regularly in 540 these days.
For Action R/C Team Schumacher it was also a great day. I personally had some great racing and finished with 4 wins from 4 starts only marred by a small mistake in each of the races which prevented them from being 4 x 17 lappers – my plan is to try a oneway next time instead of the spool I usually use. The EC really is a good car and combined with Surge motors and Feral 3800 batteries is a great package. I tried the CO27 again for the first two races and switched to a Monster for the last two – actually prefer the Monster but the lap times and race times are virtually identical with both motors. Whatever you run it seems particular attention to cleanliness of the comm and the brushes is paramount.
Comeback Kenn had his best raceday in awhile. He got some Mechano issues sorted with his car’s build and was actually doing some good laps – certainly something to build on for the next raceday. He took the plunge and invested in a secondhand Mi2 for Wednesday night racing at Hobby Station as well, so that’s another starter for stock.
Our man in Mod, Shayne had a mixed day as he messed with ratios on a new motor, qualified 5th but failed to finish the final due to some gremlin (I can’t remember which particular Gremlin it was) in the works.
A particularly enjoyable day and thanks again to Mark Richards for his usual efficient running of the meet. If you haven’t raced Bayside before why not make it a date  for 18th June. Bring a set of rubbers and race in either electric or Nitro – you’ll love it.

I think the next Bayside race will be June 18th, not 21st!

Correct – the story was about the 4th as well not 7th. Who said Heavy doesn’t know what day it is ?
