Stories from the world of RC car racing

Another day of perfect weather greeted the 40 drivers who turned out for the regular club meet at Bayside today.
The usual classes were run 540, Stock, Mod, Gas Tourer and Pro Tourer with Stock being the biggest class.
The racing was good in every class, and although the track was “slow” early on times came down progressively during the day – I thought there was a good feel to the racing today with enjoyment being high on the agenda.

For the Action RC Schumacher team we had a pretty good day with Shane having a ball in mod & stock and posting some good results at the same time. Good to see Kenn out doing some laps and again enjoying himself – and not coming last which was a personal objective for the day.
I was happy with my car and apart from breaking a drive shaft in the second race had a pretty good day. I was unable to catch Jason Wakefield.  Even though I thought my car was good enough, Jason was just too good for me and I had to settle for 2nd. Steve ran a solid 5th in the old car. Sadly we had no Schumacher drivers in 540 today – have to do something about that – unfortunately my oldest grandkids are only 4.
We are fairly focused on Tamworth now and getting our cars etc sorted for that – there is a fairly large Brisbane contingent going down and hopefully we will be able to wrest the trophy off the cockroaches. Qld seems very light on for entries in 540 so I borrowed an Mi2 off Shayne Pearce and will run the class if no-one else pops up just to try for a few points on the Interstate challenge.
This week we welcome Scott Harris back under the Schumacher umbrella. Scott was very impressive in his earlier Schumacher cars and I think he will go well in the EC as well.
Full results are posted elsewhere on the site.
Big week ahead with racing at Hobby Station Wednesday night and Logan on Staurday night. (or Ipswich for the dirty guys)
